Postgrad talks, Autumn 2013 by Elizabeth Ive arranged a series of postgrad talks, taking place over the next few weeks. Theyre open to all UoM postgrads, whichever school or faculty, so just come along. Unfortunately, central timetabling seem to be overwhelmed this year, so we dont yet have rooms allocated hoping this gets fixed before this Friday (4th October), when Im doing the first two talks. Update, Monday 30th September: Venues now added! Full details will also be on CareersLink just login using your university login details, look under Careers Fairs and Events. If you want to find all the postgrad events, click on Advanced search and search for all events named Postgrad Focus. That will give you a list of all the talks Ive got coming up. (Click on the image below for a larger, clearer view.) It would be great if you could register for the events, so I know someones likely to turn up, but on the day, its just the first ones to get there who get the pick of the seats. Heres whats coming up: 1. Finding a job for Masters Postgraduates Looking for a job this year? What are employers looking for in an application form, CV or covering letter? How do you tackle those difficult application form questions? Get advice on how to complete those forms and create a CV and covering letter with the right impact by coming along to this CV and applications talk for current Masters postgraduates. Notes: This is a group session, so there wonât be time to give you individual feedback on your own CV. However, youâre very welcome to use our Applications Advice service for individual tailored advice. This talk is aimed at students who are currently doing a Masters degree, not at undergraduates hoping to get on to a Masters programme.
